Countermine is a UK-based demining company with records of having worked successfully since the year 2000 with the Croatian government in an on-going series of mine clearance contracts.
Countermine satisfies all of the requirements of the International Mine Action Standard (IMAS).
When the main target is to perform large scale demining projects, no single method of mine clearance can be relied upon. The combination of both manual and mechanical demining methods and systems are required for maximum effectiveness. For this reason Countermine brings all the necessary capabilities to the table: from major machine clearance on the grand scale and the use of Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD), to conventional manual methods.
The Countermine ORACLE machine
The operating method of the flagship ORACLE is to till the land and to destroy the mines by impact and disintegration before they can explode. If they explode, however, the 52 tonne machine is substantial enough, particularly the tungsten metal rotating tool at the front, to withstand the blast from all types of mines. When clearing mines to normal UN-specified depths, ORACLE can produce a practical clearance rate of 15,000 m
2/h. If clearance to depths approaching 50cm is a specified requirement, very few mechanical systems can achieve this performance. ORACLE is one of those machines and is the most powerful system in the industry. A considerable amount of power is required to clear mines at depth while maintaining an efficient rate of advancement. Others can achieve the depth but advance at a slower rate. Only the Countermine ORACLE mechanical demining equipment can move forward at an efficient rate and cost while still tilling the land to a depth of at least 50cm. ORACLE´s power and efficiency makes it one of the most cost effective systems available.
