ORACLE System
The operating method of the ORACLE is to till the land and to destroy the mines by impact and disintegration before they can explode. If they explode, however, the 52 tonnes machine is substantial enough, particularly the tungsten metal rotating tool at the front, to withstand the blast from all types of mine.

The concept makes the ORACLE the most effective of all the mechanical mine clearance systems and where deeper penetration of the land is required it significantly outperforms chain-flail systems. Due to its inherent power, the ORACLE can dig deeper and at a greater rate of advancement than any competitive system. In the high-cost mine operation of mine clearance time is, indeed, money and the rapid capability of the ORACLE is fundamental to business.
A local company would be formed to undertake the management and operation
of the project. This follows the successful pattern already in place by Countermine in Croatia. The bulk of the personnel of such a company would be local.
There are several obvious reasons to hire
and educate locals
- The financial aspect: keeping costs down in order to accomplish as much demining as possible.
- Training locals increases the intimate knowledge of the mine affected countryside.
- The creation of job opportunities within in the country. Unemployment is often a big problem in mine affected areas and it is beneficial to keep the job opportunities in-country thereby supporting the local economy.
This follows the pattern already successfully established by Countermine in Croatia.
The bulk of the personnel of such a company would be local.
The re-development of the land by the associated partners can be commenced sooner to the advantage of the region and the local community at large. In summary, using the Countermine ORACLE system to clear landmines allows for the greatest speed, safety and cost effectiveness.
